As founders, we’re told to believe in our vision.
Commit fully and never give up.
But what happens:
When commitment becomes inflexibility.
When we romanticize our idea so deeply that we can’t see its flaws.
When we fall in love with the validation we hope it will give us.
At some point, I realized I wasn’t just attached to the product I was building, I was attached to “the one perfect outcome.”
I confused tunnel vision with resilience.
I confused fantasy for clarity.
The bravest thing a founder can do is to stop romanticizing an idea that no longer makes sense. And often the hardest thing to know is when to double down on the current romance and when to hit refresh.
