“There are more new products entering the market each year than products already in it.”
I was told this while trying to enter mine into the market.
That’s why your elevator pitch really matters.
You have seconds to make someone care.
When I was building Plushkies, I learned this the hard way.
At first, I described them as:
▶️ Toys in the shape of countries.
❎ Fun, visual, but missing the deeper value.
So I pivoted our slogan to:
▶️ Awakening curiosity in kids about the world.
❎ Meaningful, but too abstract
I also wanted to focus even more on the benefit for the final customer, so I changed to:
▶️ Raising global children.
❎ Too vague for a cold audience.
We continued to pivot until we ended up saying both things.
“We raise global children through toys in the shape of countries.”
Your pitch doesn’t need to sound super smart.
It needs to be clear, fast, and make people feel something.
-> What it is.
-> Why it matters.
-> In under 5 seconds.
If you're building something right now, test your pitch out loud.
